Being Catholic
In my
opinion, being Catholic is more than just something one calls him or
herself. It's a way of life.
It's a religion deep with wonderful sacraments and traditions that
are designed to encourage us to strive and live a life acceptable to Christ.
We're sinners and we know we're prone to make mistakes. We are taught
to love the sinner, and hate the sin or behavior. Fortunately we know
God's love is forgiving. We go to church to be reminded of the goals
we're working toward. We try to follow God's law and the laws of the
church which are designed to help us reach heaven.
Mass and the use of the sacraments helps us
over-come our mistakes and avoid the pitfalls of the secular world.
Being Catholic means being part of a community. We help the poor both
here and abroad. We support the basic human right to life because it
is a gift only God can give.
Being Catholic gives comfort. It connects
us to our families. And it welcomes
all
to be a
part. Being Catholic is much more, in fact, too much for this simple
introduction. If you wish to learn more about becoming a Catholic, there are
classes for those inquiring nearly at every parish. To start your
